Return to What's New

Friends of the Samuel May House, Inc. was formed by a group of Floyd County residents in March 1993. The organization is dedicated to the task of restoring and preserving the historic Samuel May House, located in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. They seek to promote local history and tourism by creating a unique facility for educating residents and visitors about our rich local heritage.

The oldest brick house in the Big Sandy Valley, the May House represents a treasure like no other in Eastern Kentucky. Restoration of the house has given Floyd County and the surrounding region its very own "Old Kentucky Home." Now that the house is restored, it will help bring history alive by providing a unique focus for special events, festivals, educational programs and conferences. Efforts continue to furnish the house and improve the grounds.
