1933 May Family Reunion
see a facsimile of the minutes

On a Sunday in late August 1933 the "Fifty Annual Reunion" of the May family met at the home of Mrs. Tom Greenwade at Frenchburg, the County Seat of Menifee Co., Ky. She was Martha May, daughter of Samuel May [1820-1904]. The secretary, George P. Hereford tells us about the day:

The folks began to come in early in the morning. It was a nice day. There were over ..... registered. The tables were spread out in the front yard next to the Church. Thanks for our Devine Blessing was voiced by David May. Everybody seemed to enjot the bountiful repast.

After all had eaten the meeting was called to order by W. B. Robinson, the president. The minutes of the previous meeting (were) read and approved. Then the officers were elected for the boming year: W. B. Robinson, president; Ida May Shropshire, vice president; Geo. P. Hereford, Secretary.

Very able talks were made by Carl Northcut, Bill Robinson, David May and others. The president, W. B. Robinson, had a telegram from the Hon. A. J. May saying he was very sorry but it was impossible for him to be with us. There being no further business, we adjourned.
