| This photo shows the window on the upstairs landing of the house. The hand-rail and other parts of the staircase are hand-made and were manufactured on the site. The house sports a standing-seam steel roof. The wall separating the landing from the north bedroom was erected by the second owner of the house. In Samuel May`s time, the north bedroom extended from the north wall of the house to the south wall of the landing. Family tradition says that this `ballroom` was the scene of many dances and parties. Samuel`s sons and daughters were a fun-loving group, and we can imagine them dancing the Virginia Reel to the tune of a fiddler standing in the corner. |
