| This photo shows the fireplace in the south upstairs bedroom of the house. We think that this room was used by Samuel`s and Catherine`s daughters. The attic adjoining the room served as a nursery for the younger children. Tress May Francis has preserved the tradition that Catherine May was very proud of her daughters, and that when the eight of them would set out for church on Sunday morning, `dressed in their finery,` they were a sight to behold. This room probably contained several beds, two bureau-drawers, and a dressing table.
