This photo shows John Miller `parging` the wall of the south upstairs bedroom. In other words, he is plastering the wall with concrete. The vertically mounted two-by-fours provide an anchor for the drywall. When workmen removed the old plaster from the interior walls, they discovered that the mortar in these walls was dry and crumbling. To remedy this problem, Jack Kauble decided to `parge` the walls. Incidentally, this work wasn`t in the contract. The contract also didn`t require Olentangy to sand, paint, and refinish the interior woodwork. This work was done despite the fact that it wasn`t budgeted. |
