Interior Wall Before Parging
This photo shows a portion of the east wall of the north upstairs bedroom before it was plastered with concrete--a technique called `parging.` The two-by-fours provided a mount for the drywall. When the workmen removed the old plaster from the interior walls, they discovered that the mortar was dry and crumbling. To remedy this, Jack Kauble decided to `parge` the interior walls. This work wasn`t in the contract. The expense involved in purchasing and installing the two-by-fours also wasn`t in the contract. That Kauble decided to do this work despite the fact that it wasn`t budgeted testifies to his integrity and dedication to his work.
