South Facade, January 1997
This photo shows the south facade of the house as it looked in January, 1997. The roof and parts of the trim have not yet been painted, and the bulge in the south wall of the main house has not yet been repaired. When workmen removed the old roof, they discovered five layers of asphalt over two layers of tin. The new roof is a standing-seam steel roof. Sections of the roof were cut from rolled steel and bent on a machine hauled to the site.
