May House, Summer 1997
This photo shows the May House as it looked during the Summer of 1997. In May, 1997, city workers laid down a gravel path from the bottom of the May House Knoll to the front porch. They also contoured the hill and seeded it. Plans are underway to build a split-rail fence along the bottom property line and up the hill along the road which borders the property on the north. In frontier Kentucky such fences were a common sight. The property will be landscaped to create the illusion that the house is still standing in the middle of an untamed wilderness. A path will wind up the hill to the house through a meadow of wild grasses.
