| This photo shows Tom Fugate and Ellis Buchanan
studying two of the Kentucky Civil War battle flags displayed
at the May House during the August 1997 Re-enactment of the Battle
of Middle Creek. Ellis dressed as a frontiersman for the event. Fugate is the Curator of the Kentucky Military History Museum in Frankfort. We are much indebted to him for bringing the battle flags to the house and placing them on display. In all, twelve flags were on view. Directly behind Tom, in the middle of the photo, is the flag of the 10th Kentucky Cavalry, C.S.A., the regiment Jack May organized in 1862-63. It saw action at Blue Springs, Tennessee in 1863 and Saltville, Virginia in 1864. |
