Kinseys Donate Table |
This photograph shows Jean and Roy Kinsey
of Salem, Virginia standing next to the table they recently donated
to the Friends of the Samuel May House, Inc. The table was originally
owned by Colonel A. J. May of Tazewell, Virginia. Born at the
May House in 1829, Andrew Jackson May grew up to become the man
Henry Scalf called `The Plumed Knight of the Southern Cause in
the Big Sandy Valley.` After the war he and his family moved
to Tazewell, Virignia. This table was once stood in the dining room of Colonel May`s eighteen-room mansion on Marion Avenue. He and his wife Matilda lived in Tazewell from 1863 until her death in 1901 and his in 1903. Jack married Nelle Bly Davidson in 1902. |
