Elizabeth Hanson May ~1793 to ~1831 She died soon after the family moved to Shelby Co. IL and was buried on the high bank of the Okaw [Kaskaskia] River near Shelbyville. No photo available. The cemetery was destroyed in the 1890s by the C.&E.I. Railroad. John May, Jr. Homer Eiler, a great-grandson of John May, Jr. who was the first published genealogist of the May family, noted the following from John's grave stone: Died Nov 22, 1849. Age: 66 yrs - 6 mos - 24 days This would give his date of birth as Apr 28, 1783, which is too close to the date for his brother, Samuel, who was born in October, 1783. Eiler also noted that other records indicate John could have been born as early as 1780. I have used the date for John that was provided by Tress May Francis: the same month and day but the year of 1781. An illegible stone next to John probably marked the grave of his son, John May, III.
