Minutes of the Board of Trustees
November 26, 2002
Those present: Delmas Saunders, Lillian Baldridge, Sam Hatcher, Don R. Johnson, and Sabra Jacobs.
Friends of the Samuel May House met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, November 26, 2002. The Minutes of the October 29, 2002, meeting had been mailed and emailed to members. Mr. Hatcher asked if there were any additions or deletions that needed to be made to them. There being none, the Minutes stood approved as presented.
In the absence of David Hereford, Mr. Hatcher presented the Treasurer's Report. The General Fund balance as of November 12th was $5,041.03 with no major expenditures. There had been several donations to the House as well as the selling of several of our books to the different tour groups that had came to tour the house during September and October. There being no additions or deletions regarding the report, it stood approved as presented.
Mr. Hatcher informed the group that one of the trustees, Marshall Davidson had fallen and broken his leg. He is currently at Highland Regional Medical Center in Prestonsburg.
As an item of Old Business, Mr. Hatcher stated that he was still trying to find someone who could install the dead bolts for us reasonably.
Mr. Hatcher reported that on Sunday, December 8, there would be a group coming to tour the house. All members who could be present to help would be appreciated.
A discussion was then held in regard to the books that the May House have on hand for sale. The Floyd County Historical Society now has a building; and, Don Johnson made a motion that the Friends of the May House donate copies of The Shoemaker's Children and Jack May's War to them for display. Seconded by Delmas Saunders; motion carried.
A discussion then began on obtaining internet service for the Friends of the May House to help maintain our web page. Don Johnson made a motion to obtain internet service beginning in January, 2003; seconded by Lillian Baldridge. Motion carried.
Lillian mentioned that it was time to decorate the tree and the House for Christmas. There was not a definite time set. A discussion followed regarding when Olde Christmas would be held. Mr. Hatcher stated that he would check and see if January 4th was the date set and report back to the group.
There being no further business, Don Johnson made a motion to adjourn the meeting.
