Minutes of the Board of Trustees
Prestonsburg, Kentucky 41653

Regular Monthly Meeting - Following Annual Membership Meeting
March 25, 2008

Minutes of this meeting are subject to approval at the next meeting.

Those present: Patricia A. Johnson, Garnett Fairchild, Jim Spencer, Don R. Johnson, Dawn R. Stambaugh, Lynn May, William L. May, Lillian Baldridge, and Sam D. Hatcher.

Mr. Hatcher called the regular monthly meeting to order at approximately 8:00 PM. He stated that the Minutes had been emailed and mailed to all Board members. It was noted that Patricia had received an email from Fred May stating that the May Family Reunion dates were wrong; therefore, a correction needed to be made. The May Family Reunion will be held on September 19th - 21st instead of Sept. 26th - 28th as stated in February's Minutes. With the correction being made, the Minutes will be approved as presented.

It was also noted that the May Family Reunion was being held on the same weekend as the reenactment of the Battle of Middle Creek.

In the absence of David Hereford, Mr. Hatcher stated that the balance of our treasury was $3,435.95, with no major expenses. He stated that with no comments, the Treasurer's report would stand as presented.

Mr. Hatcher informed the group that he had made a deal with John David Preston in regard to his latest book - he was going to buy five (5) for the May House to add to their collection for sale at a price of $21.00 each. Then, we would sale them at $35.00 each which is what Mr. Preston is selling them for individually making a profit of $14.00 for the May House.

It was noted that a perfect place to sell these books might be this year's SCV Convention which is being held in Fairview, Ky., the birthplace of Jefferson F. Davis, President of the Confederacy. This year is the 200th anniversary of his birth.

The group decided to continue their bi-monthly meetings; therefore, the next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 20th, beginning at 7:00 PM.

With no further business, the meeting was adjourned.

Respectfully submitted by:

Dawn R. Stambaugh, Secretary
Friends of the Samuel May House
