The Glan River flows north through Meisenheim on its way to the Nahe, which it meets a few miles above Niederhausen an der Nahe. Our earliest records of the Meÿ family show that they lived in the small village of Callbach and attended the large church in Meisenheim, about as early as 1567. Today a road connects through Callbach to Alsenz, where Judge Johannes Meÿ, of the fourth generation, lived throughout his adult life.
