Research notes:

In 1956, Tress May Francis wrote that Elizabeth was born October 20, 1811 and married Ephriam E. Hill on May 6, 1830 in Floyd County, KY. Tress was unsure of where they lived but cited a descendant of Elizabeth's sister, Catherine May Kenard, who said that both Catherine and Elizabeth lived at New Market, Missouri. Subsequent research of census records confirms these facts.

Our best records of the family now come from descendants of Elizabeth's daughter Rachel R. Hill, who married Robert Montgomery Campbell on June 10, 1852 in New Market, Green Twp., Platte Co., MO. Members of this Campbell line of the family have shared extensive information from annual family reunions which has been provided to me by Patty Campbell of Wichita, KS. Descendants of Elizabeth's son, Galen Hill, also have shared information on their branch of the family. A primary contact is his great granddaughter, Mary Newton.

After their marriage in Floyd Co, KY in 1930, four children born there from 1831 to 1835 : John Jefferson, Sareptah, Samuel & Rachel.

Ephriam is listed in the 1830 U.S. Census for Floyd Co., KY as head of a household, between 20 and 30 years old, with one female - certainly she must be his bride Elizabeth - between 15 and 20 years old. Between 1831 and 1835 they had four children who were bon in Kentucky: John Jefferson, Sareptah, Samuel & Rachel. The latest record we have of them in the county is in the October 1836 term of the Floyd County Court in which he was appointed as a commissioner for the county regarding the issuing of land warrents for patenting unappropriated land in the county. He served in this role along with John Preston Martin [1811-1862] who later represented the county in the Kentucky State Legislature as a Representative and a Senator and was a U.S. Congressman from Kentucky in the 29th Congress [1845-1847].

Ephriam is not listed in the 1840 census of Floyd County, but that year an E. Hill is in the census for Richmond, Ray County, MO. In 1849 he is listed as living in Green Township in Platte Co., MO with one poll and $95 of personal property. In 1852 Ephriam was a Trustee of newly incorporated New Market, MO, according to "Annals of Platte Co., MO" by Paxton in 1897.
