The May brothers and sisters who immigrated to America with their
mother in 1748 were members of the sixth generation of the Meÿ
family, as identified in The Shoemaker's Children. John May,
born in 1760, was the first male of my line of the family to be born
in America. John, his sister Anna Maria, and the eight children of Leonard
May constitute the seventh generation of the family with the May name.
