| Taken in September of 1996, this photo shows Jack Kauble laying the new cement-block wall on the north half of the east wall of the main house. Demolishing and rebuilding this wall was the first phase of the May House restoration. It was necessary to stabilize the outer walls of the main house before undertaking the demolition of the ell. In other words, rebuilding the north half of the east wall was the key to the success of the entire project. |
