| This photo shows the north side of the
ell as it looked in November, 1996. Construction of the new ell
is nearing completion. The cement-block wall of the new structure
is still partly visible. In September and October, 1996, the original ell was demolished. The old porch was removed, and the walls of the structure were torn down brick by brick. The end wall of the ell was saved, as was the interior wall with its fireplace. Also saved were the ceiling beams, the doorsills and window casings, and a walnut linen cabinet in the dining room. The dining room is the room in the ell immediately adjacent to the main house. |
