Amanda Fitzellen May Burnett

This is a photo of Amanda May Burnett, ninth child of Samuel May and Catherine Evans May. She was born at the May House on October 22nd, 1824. She married John M. Burnett, a local tailor in 1845. This photo was found in Tress May Francis`s May Family Album. Untill recently, not much was known about Amanda beyond what was first presented here. While researching a book on her first cousin, Col. Reuben May [USA], records were found of an 1881 marriage to James H. Layne, the husband of her deceased sister, Charlotte Temple May. They resided in Vernon County, Wisconsin.
