| This is an artist`s conception of the third Floyd County Courthouse, built in the 1817-1821 period by Samuel May. Built at a time when the population of Prestonsburg was fifty souls, it served the county until the late 1880s. This building was located on Front Street directly north of Billy Ray Collins`s Playhouse Restaurant. A monument marks the spot where it stood. The drawing was done by Bill Fraley, a student at Prestonsburg High School in the 1950s. Fraley based his drawing on a description of the courthouse he found in old records of the Floyd County Court.
