Beverly May Farm
This is an old photograph of the farm owned by Beverly Clark May, son of William James May and Cynthia Powers May, the second owners of the May House. This farm was located one-half mile south of the Samuel May House. The land visible here was once the property of Samuel May, the builder of the May House. Back in the 1830s, he owned all the bottom land along the river from Kentucky Fried Chicken north to the sewage treatment plant. Also visible here is a stretch of the Mount Sterling--Pound Gap Road. Notice the horse hitched to the fence at the bottom of the knoll on which the house sits. (Photo courtesy of Joe R. Skeens, Prestonsburg.)
