Leslie Settlement have been added to show
Some of the
early
holding of the Leslie family in the area that came to be Today Route 194 follows the course of Johns Creek through the property. The original settlers, William Robert Leslie and his son Robert, lived near the present post office of Gulnare and owned land there and up Sycamore Creek. Later Robert's son Martin continued to live in this section of the settlement and his sons Phramer and Allen lived a few miles farther up the creek. This is where Thomas Patton May and his wife Elizabeth Margery Leslie, Allen's daughter, lived most of their married lives. Afterward the property of Allen Leslie, near the mouth of Caney Fork, was owned by Pikeville College and became locally known as the College Farm.
