This extensively researched 236 page hard-back book, first published published in 1996, is a history of the 10th Kentucky Cavalry, C.S.A. and a story of the mountain people who chose to defend American freedom, as they understood it. It is supplemented with photos and a full roster of officers and men of the unit, who came from a number of Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia counties to serve in this cause.


THE HATFIELDS

The first full length treatment of this mountain feud in 25 years, the author has researched the material to greater depth and has produced a more colorful saga of the Hatfields and McCoys than earlier accounts.

Valuable components of the book are plentiful bibliographical notes, 24 pages of photographs, some never before printed and a detailed genealogy over 500 descendants in the family tree. The book has been carefully edited and published by the Big Sandy Valley Historical Society.
