Minutes of the Board of Trustees Those present: Don Johnson, Jean H. Burke, Lillian Baldridge, Garnett Fairchild, Alice Howard, Patricia A. Johnson, Dorothy Rose Osborne, Jimmy D. Reed, Marshall Davidson, Jim Spencer, William May and Sam Hatcher. The Friends of the Samuel May House met for their regular monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 27, 2001. Following the 2001 Annual Membership Meeting, Mr. Hatcher called the regular monthly meeting to order at approximately 8:00 PM. Mr. Hatcher informed the group that we had a web site and that after the Minutes of each meeting was approved they would be posted there. In order to locate the site type mayhouse.org and it will appear. The site was donated to us by Fred May's son, David. He asked that those present read over the Minutes from the last meeting. Following a brief delay, Don Johnson made a motion that the Minutes be accepted as printed, seconded by Marshall Davidson and passed unanimously. He informed the group that Randy Burchett was ready to release a bid package for our parking lot, walkways, and porch; however, he was awaiting approval from the Kentucky Heritage Council before he could do so. In the absence of David Hereford, Mr. Hatcher gave the Treasurer's report. He stated that in the general fund we had $7,308.29 and the archive fund (used for computer system and photos) had a total of $1,841.53. Don Johnson made a motion that the report be accepted as presented, seconded by Jim Spencer, carried unanimously. Mr. Hatcher mentioned some expenses that would be coming up. He stated they had talked about hiring someone for the summer to keep the house opened; and, if they did this would cost approximately $5,000.00. The ISTEA grant would hopefully take care of the walkway, handicap ramp and porch. He said it seemed to him from the information he had received that we could do whatever the City Council says we can do with the money. So, basically, at this point, we are waiting on the Historic easement to be signed before we continue with the plans. He stated that he would increase an effort to get an industrial vacuum cleaner for the May House; and, would let us know something by the next meeting.
