of Hans Peter Meÿ
Early family records listed only Samuel's date of birth. In 1956 genealogist Tress May Frances wrote that he "lived and died in Indian Territory." By 1850 he was listed in the US Census of Green Township, Platt Co., MO, age 34, with a wife, Nancy, and five children. The oldest child, John, was born in Kentucky about 1838, and the others - Catherine, James, William and Vienna - were born in Missouri beginning in 1841. Living in the same township were his sister, Elizabeth May Hill - wife of Ephraim E. Hill. In August 1860 he was living in Bourbon Co, Kansas with his wife, six children and two teenage workers in the household.
