2008 photos Caplock Rifle of Thomas May, Sr. (1787-1867) Fred T. May 2005 photos and information about the rifle

In March 2008 I met again with Bill May at his home near San Antonio and took a few more photos of the rifle and hunting pouch of our gr-gr-grandfather, Thomas May, Sr. I hadn't remembered that the leather pouch he carried still had quite a bit of hair from the deer pelt remaining on one side. These photos show that side. It appears that someone restitched the edge of the pouch with string.   The rifle is about 5 feet long and weighs about 10 pounds.
