COUNTY COURT RECORDS
1821 1835 Floyd County was created by the Kentucky General Assembly on December 13, 1799 and took effect on June 1, 1800. County Court records from June 1800 through September 1808 were destroyed in a fire which consumed the first courthouse. Floyd County Court Books 1-4 are extant and were partially transcribed by Mr. Charles Wells in his book Annals of Floyd County, Kentucky 1800-1826. This transcription begins at the point where Mr. Wells ended and continues through October 1835. It contains records that cover all or part of Floyd, Knott, Magoffin, Johnson, Morgan and Martin Counties. Two maps of the region are included to show the new counties of Lawrence, Pike and Morgan counties that were established from Floyd and other counties in 1822, 1822 and 1823, respectrively. Clay and Perry counties had been establised previously Floyd and other counties in 1807 and 1821, respectively.

COUNTY COURT RECORDS
1835 1847 These records extend from December 1835 through November 1847 transcrived from Floyd County Court Books 7 and 8. The geographic area covered includes all or part of current day Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin, Knott and Martin Counties, with a few boundary references to adjoining counties: Pike Letcher, Perry Breathitt, Lawrence and Morgan. Two maps of the region are included to show the new counties of Breathitt, Letcher and Johnson counties that were established from Floyd and other counties in 1839, 1842 and 1843, respectrively. $26.77 plus shipping & handling Click here to order your copy on the internet
